PROJECT OVERVIEW
September 30, 2007
The mission of Youth Voices and Vision is to encourage and foster youth leadership development. The program will equip local youth with skills to become members of society who will positively and proactively impact the communities in which they live.
Youth Voices and Vision is designed to empower young leaders with the tools to positively change the world around them by sharing ideas, working on community projects, and developing leadership skills. Students in middle school and high school will come together from across Mecklenburg County to discuss issues and share ideas about how to build up their communities.
Youth Voices and Vision is a youth leadership development program of Young Women of Promise, Inc., a 501 c 3 nonprofit agency founded in Cabarrus County in 2001. The project, with initial funding from the NC Civic Education Consortium, began in Cabarrus County in the spring of 2006 with 34 program participants.
